拜占庭传统蛋彩木板圣像，参考12世纪科穆宁时期君士坦丁堡宫廷圣像传统，描绘天使长米迦勒为天军战士。石膏打底木板，背景为磨光金箔（chrysography），光环精细阴刻。天使长正面四分之三胸像，着深紫色皇家宝石腰带（loros）、白色基顿、甲胄外露。面部遵拜占庭典范：细长椭圆脸、宽额头、小嘴、大深凹眼睛以庄严凝视透视观者而非看向观者。翅膀以深钴蓝叠羽描绘，每枚羽尖有金线chrysography高光。右手持水晶球，左手握金色拔剑。木板边缘刻意呈现老化裂纹与暗化。色调：磨光金、深紫、钴蓝、象牙白与洋红。

A Byzantine icon panel painting in the tradition of Constantinople court icon-painting, circa the 12th century Komnenian period, depicting the Archangel Michael as heavenly warrior. The icon is painted in egg-tempera on gessoed wood panel; the background is burnished gold leaf (chrysography) with a fine engraved halo. The archangel stands frontally in three-quarter bust, wearing a deep purple imperial loros (jeweled sash), a white chiton, and chain-mail beneath. His face conforms to the Byzantine ideal: elongated oval, high forehead, small pursed mouth, large deep-set eyes in the hieratic gaze that looks through rather than at the viewer. His wings are rendered in overlapping feathers of deep cobalt with gold chrysography highlight lines on every feather tip. He holds a crystal orb in his right hand and a golden drawn sword in his left. The panel shows deliberate craquelure and age darkening at the edges. Palette: burnished gold, deep purple, cobalt blue, ivory, and carmine.
