The scene uses a high diagonal viewpoint typical of illustrated screen panels. The street is lined with timber-frame merchant houses, their latticed shoji-screen shop fronts glowing amber from lanterns within. Signs above each storefront bear black-brushed shop names in formal block characters. Street activity: a palanquin carried by two bearers in matching livery, a peddler balancing a shoulder pole stacked with lacquerware, children chasing a paper lantern, a merchant in a striped kimono counting coins in his doorway. The sky transitions from burnt orange to deep indigo. The color palette is warm amber, navy, natural wood tan, slate grey, and charcoal. Textures: rough plaster walls, latticed cedar, worn stone paving. The mood is lively and intimate, capturing the prosperous Genroku-era townspeople culture.
